Recommendations for Professional book Publishers

Newbie Posts: 2 Joined: 01.05.25	Hey everyone, I’m a first-time author and have just completed my manuscript. I’m now starting to look for professional book publishers who specialize in contemporary fiction. I’ve done some research online, but the number of options is overwhelming! I’m particularly looking for publishers that are author-friendly and provide good marketing support for debut authors. I’m not interested in vanity presses, so I would love to hear from anyone who has had a positive experience with professional book publishers. Have any of you worked with a publisher that you’d recommend? How was the process of submission, contract negotiation, and overall experience? Also, should I consider reaching out to literary agents first, or can I approach publishers directly with my manuscript? Thanks in advance for your advice—any suggestions or personal experiences would be really helpful!
